Richardson's 13th Annual Gobble Hobble

People running a race

November means one thing to most people: Thanksgiving. Many people get amped up to feast with family and friends. Some spend the month looking for opportunities to express more gratitude. Others in our neighborhood spend the month preparing for and participating one of our beloved Richardson, Texas traditions.

The Gobble Hobble

Each year the Methodist Richardson Medical Center presents a 5K, 10K, and fun run in support of local groups. This year’s Gobble Hobble will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas. The race started out as a grassroots effort and is now in its 13th year!

The fun run begins at 8am at Galatyn Park and the races commence at 8:30am on Saturday, November 17, 2018 (the Saturday before Thanksgiving). Galatyn Park is about 4.5 miles from Northside. It takes about 11 minutes to drive from here to 2351 Performance Dr. Richardson, TX 75082. If you choose to drive, parking will be available in the parking garage on 2390 Performance Dr. It might be helpful to drive to another DART station nearby because the Galatyn Park Station will let you off right where you need to be.

Runners of all skill levels are welcome to participate in these events. It is not too late too register! Though you’ll note that next year you can save a couple dollars and get your T-shirt size guaranteed by registering for the event earlier. Perhaps you’d like to like the Gobble Hobble Facebook Page so that you’ll get a reminder next year when registration opens. Even if you are not a runner, the race also requires and welcomes volunteers from the community to assist in various parts of the event.

You can always just come and support those who are running as well! Come by and meet Miss Texas 2017 Margana Wood and dance with the Gobble Hobble Turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving from Northside!
